There are millions of idiot guides to every software package, except Navision. I couldn't find any aftermarket books on Navision. Are there any that are written in English for help on programming and report writing?

I doubt that Navision AS would allow such a book to be printed. Besides, I can't imagine it would sell more than a dozen copies.

jp i think you are wrong. A lot of end users, IT Developers and other people are very very interested in having an aftermarket book. Navision world is full of darkness for people that not work in a NSC.

If their are no books on the market, why not write some manuals ourselves ? I would be very interested in a manual that lears me how to write reports. I would be glad to spend some time working on this issue...

Philippe, part of the Application Builder training course is creation of reports. Probably your local Navision office has this training manual on its partnerweb as PDF available for download.

Our NSC does not have this report. They provide courses on the subject, so I don't think they will give their documentation for free. If somebody could send me this PDF file......I would be thankfull for the rest of my days...

I too would love to get this PDF-- Could it just be posted somewhere (like my.navision) for downloading

You should talk with your NSC or local Navision office. It's safe to assume your Navision subsidiary is comparable to Navision The Netherlands, which has training materials (General training, Application Builder, Solution Developer, etc.) available for download from the Partner Web pages.

Don't think it would be correct to make it available otherwise (not to mention you would have some trouble reading Dutch...)

In that case, you should talk to your NSC again (assuming your are an end-user). If you have the license to create reports, your NSC should provide the training material(s) as a service. If you want to be trained it's normal to be charged, but the manuals should be free (IMHO). If Navision Belgium doesn't have the Application Builder training manual, then they should find a way to obtain it from the Dutch Navision website for you. There it is, as an PDF file of some megs (145 pages in all).

I agree that Navison does have guides. But have you checked out the Help files. They are very poor.

Maybe PhilippeVG is correct. Maybe a group of developers should get to gave and write an on-line book, that teach's hinst and tips etc.

You can always learn from over developers and im sure that there are some gifted developers out there that could/Would like to put their pennys worth in.

How many developers of navision know the diffrence between :

X := X + 1;
and
X += 1;

??

Who would be up to add theirs pennys worth?

The PDFs are on the Navision CD. Are they not on your CDs?
